Material values are the root cause of conflict, exploitation, poverty and stress in the world. Such values effectively stifle the emergence of higher order values, such as peace, love, care, selflessness, and generosity.

This course is intended to act as a stimulus for conversation and constructive thinking on human values, to become aware of and to understand the meaning and importance of values and their application to the self, others, and the environment.

During the sessions, prisoners will have the opportunity to:

bullet-arrow define values and their application.
bullet-arrow develop the ability to recognise values in key areas of one’s life.
bullet-arrow increase understanding of specific core values.
bullet-arrow identify barriers within the self which inhibit one’s expression of values.
bullet-arrow appreciate that perceived weaknesses are merely strengths that are ‘out of balance’.

Total plenary/workshop time: 7.5 hours
