Poland
In November 2004, Doug Stephenson and Mal Gillan from the Spirituality in Prison Working Group were invited to run a two day training course in the south of Poland. The participants were prison managers and psychologists from around the country, as well as representatives from a Ukrainian NGO. (The Polish Prison Service is a military system and so there is a clear distinction between the guards and those who manage the lives of the prisoners.)

In March 2009, Doug Stephenson of the Working Group, was invited to Argentina, Chile and Paraguay to meet with and address those who are working in prison and in social services initiatives, particularly with the most marginalized and vulnerable sectors of the community. These programmes were a part of national training initiatives. The seminars explored the role of the less tangible aspects of inter-personal communication in enabling others to fulfil their potential.
